Four men are arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran in London

Police in London have arrested four men suspected of spying for Iran following an investigation into alleged surveillance activities targeting members of the Jewish community. Authorities said the arrests were part of efforts to protect national security and prevent possible threats.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspects include one Iranian national and three individuals with dual British-Iranian citizenship. The arrests were carried out in the early hours of the morning during coordinated operations across several locations.

Police confirmed that the men, aged 22, 40, 52, and 55, were arrested at properties in Harrow, Watford, and Barnet. Officers are currently conducting searches at the properties as part of an investigation linked to suspected offences under the National Security Act.

Authorities revealed that the investigation relates to alleged monitoring of places and individuals connected to the Jewish community in the London area. Officials believe the surveillance activities may have been part of a broader intelligence operation.

In addition to the four main suspects, six other men aged between 20 and 49 were arrested at a location in Harrow. They are suspected of assisting an offender, bringing the total number of people currently in custody to ten.

Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing in London, said the arrests followed a long-term investigation aimed at disrupting suspicious activities. She urged the public, especially members of the Jewish community, to remain alert and report any unusual behaviour to the police.
