I have to be involved in choosing Iran’s next leader – Trump

Donald Trump has said the United States should have a role in determining who becomes the next leader of Iran. He made the remark during an interview, stressing that Washington cannot ignore the leadership transition currently taking place in Tehran.

Trump also rejected the possibility of Mojtaba Khamenei becoming the country’s next supreme leader. According to him, such an outcome would not be acceptable, adding that the United States prefers a leader who would promote peace and stability in the region.

The leadership debate in Iran intensified after the death of Ali Khamenei during recent military strikes involving the United States and Israel. The country’s clerical body known as the Assembly of Experts is responsible for selecting the next supreme leader.

Trump suggested that the United States wants a leadership outcome that avoids future conflicts with Washington. However, Iranian authorities have not yet announced who will officially take over the country’s top leadership position.
