The Accord Party in Osun State has declared its readiness to comply with the new Electoral Act amendment that makes electronic membership registration compulsory. The party said it has already begun a nationwide e-registration and membership revalidation process.
In a statement signed by National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem, members at home and abroad were encouraged to update their details and obtain new membership cards. The party noted that even old members must re-register to provide additional required information.
According to the leadership, the digital register will help identify genuine members and properly accredit them for congresses, primaries, and conventions as preparations for the 2027 general election begin. Party executives at all levels have been directed to mobilize members for the exercise.
While Accord supports the new rule, some opposition parties have raised concerns that mandatory e-registration under the Electoral Act 2026 could limit democratic participation as the 2027 elections approach.
