The U.S. military’s Central Command announced that three American service members have been killed in action during ongoing military operations connected to the joint U.S.‑Israel campaign against Iran. In addition, five other U.S. service members were seriously wounded, and several more troops sustained minor injuries such as shrapnel wounds and concussions. The identities of the deceased have not yet been publicly released out of respect for family notifications.
These casualties occurred as part of “Operation Epic Fury,” the name given to the U.S.‑led military actions against Iranian military targets. The strikes began after major attacks that reportedly included the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and extensive bombardment of key Iranian military infrastructure. Iran has responded with retaliatory missile and drone strikes at U.S. bases and allied locations across the Middle East.
Central Command confirmed that combat operations continue, underscoring that the situation remains highly volatile and may lead to additional casualties. U.S. leadership had warned that American forces might suffer losses as the conflict escalates.
The strikes and counter‑strikes have spread beyond direct U.S.‑Iran engagements, with ballistic missiles and drones launched across multiple Gulf states. Civilians and foreign nationals have also been affected in several attacks linked to the wider conflict.
