No Wiretapping Equipment Found In El-Rufai’s Abuja Home

The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has refuted claims that sophisticated phone-tapping devices and sensitive security documents were seized from his Abuja residence. His son, Mohammed El-Rufai, described the allegations as false and politically motivated.

According to the family, only old mobile phones, laptops, and flash drives were taken during the search, which they said was conducted under a defective warrant challenged in court. They argued that El-Rufai’s silence during investigations is his constitutional right, not non-cooperation.

The family criticized the ICPC for engaging in a “media war” rather than following proper legal procedures. They stated that all allegations about electronic eavesdropping and threats against witnesses are untrue.

El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since February 18, 2026, over alleged corruption during his tenure as Kaduna State governor. He has filed a fundamental rights suit seeking N1 billion in damages over the legality of the raid and claims of rights violations.
