Iran war: Israel orders evacuation of 50 villages in Lebanon

Israel has directed residents of about 50 towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate as it launched fresh airstrikes on what it described as Hezbollah positions. The action comes as fighting linked to the wider Iran conflict enters another tense phase. Witnesses reported explosions in parts of Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The Israeli military said the strikes were carried out in response to rocket and drone attacks allegedly launched by Hezbollah toward northern Israel. The armed group had earlier claimed responsibility for targeting a military base near Haifa.

Authorities warned civilians in the listed communities to move at least 1,000 metres away from their homes to safer open areas. They cautioned that anyone close to Hezbollah facilities or fighters could be at risk as operations continue.

The latest escalation has raised fears of a broader regional conflict, with cross-border attacks increasing. As tensions grow, many residents face uncertainty while diplomatic efforts to calm the situation remain unclear.
