US President Donald Trump has announced that American forces, alongside Israel, have begun what he called a large-scale military operation against Iran. In a video message, Trump warned Iranian soldiers to lay down their weapons or face serious consequences, saying the mission targets threats to US and allied security.
Trump stated that the campaign aims to weaken Iran’s missile systems and military strength. He accused Tehran’s leadership of refusing diplomatic solutions over its nuclear programme and regional activities. The president described the action as necessary to protect long-term national interests.
The operation follows weeks of rising tension and military preparations in the Middle East. US forces had earlier moved naval ships and aircraft into the region, even as indirect talks continued. Israeli authorities have not released detailed comments, but sirens and alerts have reportedly increased in affected areas.
The escalation raises concerns about a wider regional conflict. Mediators, including Badr Albusaidi, had recently suggested that a diplomatic deal was still possible. However, the latest developments signal a sharp turn from negotiation to open confrontation.
