Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has rejected calls from the APC for the resignation of his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye, describing the demand as a “melancholic tantrum.” The APC alleged Akinleye’s involvement in a N13.7 billion payroll fraud controversy.
Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, praised Akinleye as an efficient and competent Chief of Staff, highlighting his role in governance, consensus building, and protecting the state from financial mismanagement.
The governor reaffirmed confidence in Akinleye, emphasizing his contributions and integrity, while noting Adeleke’s administration enjoys an approval rating of over 80 percent compared with APC’s over 85 percent disapproval in the state.
Rasheed said the opposition’s call reflects frustration over its declining political fortunes, insisting the Chief of Staff’s reputation remains untarnished and that the administration’s successes outweigh APC’s criticisms.
