Britain has temporarily withdrawn its embassy staff from Tehran due to rising security concerns. The UK Foreign Office said the embassy will now operate remotely, warning that assistance for British nationals in Iran is extremely limited.
The move follows renewed tensions after Donald Trump reportedly threatened possible military action against Iran. The United States has also increased its military presence in the region, heightening fears of escalation.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Jerusalem authorised the departure of non-emergency staff and their families. Keir Starmer said Britain is supporting diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran to avoid further conflict.
Talks between US and Iranian officials recently stalled over Tehran’s nuclear programme. Iran has insisted that any agreement would require the US to ease what it called excessive demands, leaving the situation uncertain.
