Kano suspends doctor for allegedly working under influence of alcohol

The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has suspended a doctor accused of reporting to duty under the influence of alcohol at a government hospital. The case was brought to the board’s attention, leading to a preliminary review that pointed to possible misconduct.

Executive Secretary Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda approved the doctor’s suspension and ordered a formal query while a full investigation is carried out. The board said the alleged behavior goes against the ethical standards required of medical professionals.

In a statement by Public Relations Officer Samira Sulaiman, management stressed that healthcare workers must show discipline and sound judgment at all times. They noted that patient safety and public trust remain top priorities.

The board assured residents that the matter is being handled according to civil service rules and medical ethics. It also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accountability and professionalism in the health sector.
