Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that he will not leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He made this clear while speaking at the Omituntun Ramadan Lecture in Ibadan, assuring supporters that he remains committed to the party.
Makinde said he was elected under the PDP and would stay loyal to its ideals. He urged members to focus on competence, service delivery and good governance instead of personal loyalty to individuals.
His statement comes amid rumours of possible defections ahead of the 2027 general elections. The governor stressed that political decisions should strengthen, not weaken, the party’s structure.
Makinde added that unity within the PDP is important for its success. He encouraged leaders and members to stay focused on serving the people and upholding the party’s mission.
