Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has expressed joy after rejoining the Super Falcons following her maternity break. The experienced player last featured for Nigeria at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and missed the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The 32-year-old stepped away from football due to pregnancy and childbirth. She recently received a surprise call-up for the Super Falcons’ friendly matches against Cameroon, marking her return to the national team.
Okobi said she feels honoured and grateful for the opportunity to wear the national colours again. She added that she is focused on taking things step by step and is not bothered by social media criticism.
With 27 caps for Nigeria, the midfielder believes motherhood is a blessing and is ready to contribute her experience to the team once again.
