Channel attention to pillars of development – Peter Obi tells Nigerian govt

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerian leaders and wealthy citizens to focus on key areas of national growth. He said security, healthcare, education and poverty reduction are the main pillars needed to build a strong and fair society.

Obi made the call in a post on his verified X account after visiting Benin City. During the trip, he stopped at the Philomena School of Nursing Sciences, where he encouraged students and staff to continue striving for excellence.

As part of his support for critical sectors, Obi donated ₦15 million to the nursing institution to help improve its facilities. He said he has consistently backed schools and healthcare centres across the country.

He appealed to governments at all levels and private individuals with resources to invest more in development-focused projects. According to him, real progress can only happen when these core sectors receive proper attention.
