The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced plans to file a complaint against the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the ECOWAS Court of Human Rights over an alleged attack in Benin, Edo State. The party said the incident involved Peter Obi and other political figures during a visit to the state.
Yunusa Tanko, national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, claimed the attack happened after a meeting welcoming Olumide Akpata into the ADC. He said the group had just returned from the party secretariat when the disruption occurred.
ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi described the incident as political intimidation and accused Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo of making statements capable of increasing tension. He alleged that threats were made concerning Obi’s safety and opposition activities.
The party said it will report the matter to diplomatic missions and pursue legal action at the ECOWAS court. ADC insisted it will not be intimidated and vowed to defend the rights of its members through lawful means.
