A security analyst based in Jos, Appolos Kuchi, has accused Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria of spreading propaganda to justify violent attacks in Plateau State. He claimed the groups often push narratives portraying themselves as victims before attacks occur.
Kuchi alleged that in recent years, such media campaigns have preceded coordinated assaults on communities. He said warnings were sent to authorities about this pattern, but little proactive action was taken to prevent violence.
Referring to recent incidents in Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas, he stated that reports of alleged attacks on herders flooded the media days before communities were attacked. According to him, this pattern raises concerns about possible pre-planned retaliation.
He urged the government and security agencies to monitor narratives closely and strengthen security whenever tensions rise. Kuchi maintained that early intervention and intelligence gathering are key to preventing further loss of lives in Plateau.
