The National Assembly of Nigeria has postponed its plenary resumption from Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026. The decision, announced by the Clerk, Kamoru Ogunlana, allows committees more time to complete ongoing budget defence sessions with ministries and agencies.
The postponement is aimed at enabling detailed scrutiny of the 2026 Appropriation Bill. Committees are still engaging various government departments to ensure thorough evaluation of the proposed budget.
Plenary sessions in both the Senate and House of Representatives will now reconvene at 11:00 a.m. on March 5. Members have been advised to take note of the new schedule and plan accordingly.
The National Assembly leadership expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the shift and reiterated the importance of completing budget reviews before resuming full legislative business.
