The African Democratic Congress (ADC) failed to secure the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship in the recent FCT elections, according to Arise News Director, Sumner Sambo. He noted that the party’s candidates were not indigenous to the area, which may have influenced voter decisions.
Sambo explained that AMAC, being the administrative and cosmopolitan hub of the FCT, includes many villages the ADC could not reach during its campaign. This limited outreach, he said, affected the party’s performance.
He also highlighted historical voting patterns in the FCT, noting that voters often shifted between parties in presidential and National Assembly elections, indicating strong local political dynamics.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won five of six council seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured only Gwagwalada, leaving the ADC without representation in the area councils.
