The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has confirmed a fire outbreak at Terminal One of Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The agency announced the incident through its official social media channel, assuring the public that emergency teams quickly moved in to control the situation. It also stated that no casualties had been reported at the time of the update.
According to FAAN, firefighters were actively battling the blaze while smoke filled parts of the terminal earlier in the day. Passengers and staff were calmly evacuated as response teams worked to prevent the fire from spreading and to restore safety within the facility.
To reinforce operations, FAAN activated joint emergency support from agencies including Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. The authority noted that collaboration was necessary to ensure swift containment and protect airport infrastructure.
Officials emphasized that all measures were being taken to safeguard lives and property. FAAN promised to keep Nigerians informed with verified updates as investigations and response efforts continue at the Lagos facility.
