The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has stated that elections are won through performance, not “street drama” or short-term gestures like buying corn during campaigns. He made the remarks while handing over 54 construction equipment to 18 LGAs in Edo State.

Wike criticized politicians who try to appear close to ordinary citizens only during election season, calling them “emergency democrats.” He emphasized that voters should focus on tangible achievements rather than public stunts.

Praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Wike highlighted the developmental projects in the FCT as examples of meaningful governance. He said performance and long-term results matter more than temporary displays.

As a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike added that he would not contest the presidential election outcome, acknowledging the visible impact of Tinubu’s policies in the FCT.
