The Gombe State Police Command has announced a temporary relaxation of motorcycle movement restrictions, allowing riders to operate from 7 pm to 11 pm during and after the Ramadan period. Authorities said the adjustment followed broad security consultations aimed at balancing safety with increased religious and social activities.
Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi explained that the decision was designed to support residents’ evening movements while maintaining order. He noted that festive gatherings and communal events usually rise during this season, making flexibility necessary for daily life in Gombe State.
Commissioner of Police Umar Ahmed Chuso assured citizens that security agencies remain fully prepared to prevent crime despite the extended hours. He stressed that personnel and patrol strategies have been strengthened to safeguard worshippers, commuters, and neighborhoods.
The command advised motorcyclists to follow traffic rules, carry valid documents, and avoid reckless riding. Residents were also urged to stay alert and report suspicious activity, while police thanked community leaders for their cooperation in maintaining peace.
