Police arrest suspected human trafficker, rescue five minors in Katsina

Police in Katsina State have arrested a suspected human trafficker and rescued five young victims during an operation that foiled an alleged cross-border trafficking attempt. The arrest was carried out by the Katsina State Police Command after officers acted on credible intelligence.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that the suspect, a 45-year-old woman, was intercepted at a motor park while allegedly preparing to transport the victims out of the country. Authorities said the operation took place in the afternoon following surveillance tracking.

Police confirmed that five individuals, including minors, were rescued during the interception. Initial questioning reportedly indicated they were being moved for domestic work abroad, with Algeria named as the intended destination. Investigators are working to verify the details.

Officials say the case highlights ongoing trafficking risks and the importance of public vigilance. The command assured residents it will continue intelligence-driven operations to dismantle trafficking networks and protect vulnerable persons.
