The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that more than 1.2 million Nigerians have been registered in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The commission said the turnout shows strong public interest ahead of future elections.
INEC explained that the registration is part of efforts to allow eligible citizens who recently turned 18 or missed earlier exercises to obtain their voter cards. Officials noted that the process is running across designated centres nationwide.
The commission encouraged more Nigerians to take advantage of the exercise before the deadline. It also urged applicants to complete their details correctly to avoid delays during verification and card collection.
INEC reassured the public of its commitment to transparent elections, saying that expanding the voter register is key to strengthening democracy and ensuring wider participation in the electoral process.
