Rema breaks Wizkid’s record for longest-charting African album on Billboard World Albums

Nigerian singer Rema has made history as his debut album, Rave & Roses, became the longest-charting African album on the Billboard World Albums chart, spending 170 weeks on the list. This achievement breaks the previous record of 164 weeks set by Wizkid’s Made In Lagos.

Other African albums that have achieved long runs on the Billboard chart include Tems’ Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (63 weeks), and Fela Kuti’s classic The Best Of The Black President (45 weeks). Rema’s record underscores his growing influence in the global music scene.

In addition to this milestone, Rema earned his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. His collaboration with Don Toliver, Secondhand, debuted at number 29, marking another major achievement for the Nigerian star.

Tems also made headlines as her new song What You Need debuted on the Hot 100, bringing her total entries to seven. This ties her with Burna Boy and South African band Seether for the joint African record on the Hot 100 chart.
