Russia, Burkina Faso sign several agreements in Moscow

Russia and Burkina Faso have signed several agreements in Moscow to boost cooperation in trade, energy, and security. The documents formalize a stronger partnership following high-level talks and previous visits by Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré.

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, welcomed Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Traoré, saying the signed agreements will serve as the foundation for future collaboration. The agreements are part of efforts to implement shared economic and strategic visions, including work through the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Lavrov also highlighted Russia and Burkina Faso’s growing military and counter-terrorism cooperation in the Sahel, praising Burkina Faso’s support at the United Nations and its balanced position on the Ukraine crisis. He described the partnership as a positive example for other nations in the region.

Both countries emphasized further coordination on information and media spaces, as Moscow criticized Western influence against countries pursuing independent foreign policies. The cooperation reflects a broad commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and regional stability.
