It’s stupid to say no – Ndume backs US military presence in Nigeria

Senator Ali Ndume has expressed support for the presence of United States military forces in Nigeria, saying it would be wrong to reject such cooperation. According to him, Nigeria should be open to partnerships that can help tackle rising insecurity across the country.

Ndume argued that the security challenges facing Nigeria, including insurgency and banditry, require stronger international collaboration. He maintained that working with global partners like the United States could improve intelligence sharing, training, and overall military capacity.

The senator noted that other countries benefit from foreign military partnerships without losing their sovereignty. In his view, strategic cooperation would strengthen Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and other criminal activities threatening national stability.

However, the proposal has generated mixed reactions among citizens and political observers. While some agree that foreign assistance could enhance security efforts, others have raised concerns about national sovereignty and long-term implications. The debate highlights ongoing discussions about the best strategies to address Nigeria’s security challenges.
