Police have launched an urgent manhunt for a 21-year-old prisoner described as “extremely dangerous” after he escaped custody during a hospital visit in west London.
Daniel Boakye fled in the early hours of Tuesday, 11 February, after being escorted from HMP Feltham to West Middlesex Hospital.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were alerted shortly after 3.30am that a prisoner had escaped while under the supervision of prison staff.Boakye is serving a six-year sentence, imposed in 2023, for conspiracy to commit robbery and a separate robbery offence. He is understood to have links to north London gangs and performs under the rap name Dsavv, releasing tracks including No Kiddin and Pocket Rocket.
A prison source described the incident as a serious security breach, calling it “a huge embarrassment” for the prison service.
The source said Boakye would normally have been restrained and cuffed to an officer at all times, raising concerns about how he was able to flee.Staff at HMP Feltham were informed of the escape on Tuesday morning, and a large-scale search operation was launched immediately.
Boakye is believed to have links to the Tottenham-based gang OFB (Original Farm Boys), associated with the Broadwater Farm estate. In some of his music, he makes references to violent street crime.Between June 2021 and January 2022, Boakye and three other teenagers carried out a series of robberies and attempted robberies across London. Armed with knives, they forced victims to hand over mobile phones and disclose passcodes before transferring cryptocurrency into so-called “hot wallets.”More than £115,000 was stolen.
The group also used victims’ stored bank details to purchase top-up cards, pay for taxi journeys and conduct other fraudulent transactions. Detectives ultimately traced the suspects through takeaway orders paid for using stolen bank information.A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 03:30hrs on Tuesday, 10 February, the Met was informed by the Prison Service that a prisoner had escaped custody while under the care of prison staff at a west London hospital.
“The prisoner is a 21-year-old man. While the investigation proceeds at pace, we will not be able to provide further details. Officers are carrying out urgent enquiries in an effort to locate him and return him to custody.”
A Prison Service spokesperson added: “We are urgently working with the Metropolitan Police to recapture this prisoner and investigating how he was able to escape from hospital.”
Officers have urged members of the public not to approach Boakye if seen and to contact police immediately with any information about his whereabouts.
