Nigerians across the country are experiencing a noticeable drop in electricity supply, which is expected to continue from February 12 to 15, 2026. The disruption is linked to scheduled maintenance by Seplat, in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), on its gas production facilities.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) explained that the maintenance has directly impacted several power stations connected to the national grid. These include major plants such as Egbin, Azura, Sapele, Transcorp, and the NDPHC-operated plants at Sapele, Olorunsogo, and Omotosho.
Officials said the temporary reduction in gas supply will limit electricity generation capacity during the maintenance period. Consumers may notice fluctuations or reduced voltage in their homes and businesses as the plants adjust to the temporary shortage.
NISO reassured Nigerians that the maintenance is routine and necessary to ensure long-term stability and reliability of the national grid. Power supply is expected to return to normal after February 15, 2026, once the facilities resume full operations.
