The Lagos State Government has sealed several estates in Lekki and Lagos Island over alleged violations of physical planning regulations. Officials said the affected properties failed to comply with approved building guidelines and development permits required by law.
According to authorities, the enforcement exercise was carried out as part of efforts to restore order and ensure proper urban development across the state. The government explained that some of the estates were either built without approval or deviated significantly from their approved building plans.
Officials stressed that the action is not targeted at individuals but aimed at promoting safety, environmental standards, and structured growth in Lagos. They warned property developers and landowners to always obtain the necessary approvals before starting construction projects.
The state government reiterated its commitment to enforcing planning laws to prevent structural failures and chaotic urban expansion. Developers have been encouraged to regularize their documents where possible, as Lagos continues to strengthen compliance in its rapidly growing communities.
