Akwa Ibom: APC members protest over alleged plot to dismantle ward, LG structures

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State have staged a protest over what they describe as an alleged plan to dismantle existing ward and local government party structures. The protesters expressed concern that such a move could weaken the party’s foundation ahead of future political activities.

The aggrieved members claimed that dissolving the current ward and local government executives would create confusion and disrupt party unity at the grassroots level. According to them, the existing structures were properly constituted and should be allowed to complete their tenure in line with party guidelines.

During the protest, party faithful called on the national leadership of the APC to intervene and ensure that due process is followed. They stressed that maintaining stable ward and local government leadership is important for strengthening party organization and mobilization across the state.

The development highlights growing internal tensions within the party in Akwa Ibom. Observers say how the leadership handles the situation could influence party cohesion and preparedness ahead of upcoming political engagements.
