Ekiti judiciary moves to integrate High Court into Nigerian Case Management System

The Ekiti State Judiciary has begun steps to bring its High Court into the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS), a digital platform created to improve court efficiency, transparency, and speed in handling cases. The move is part of efforts to modernise judicial processes and reduce delays in the delivery of justice.

This development was made known during a stakeholders’ roundtable held in Ado-Ekiti to discuss the enrolment and onboarding process. The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, said the judiciary has already met key technical conditions required for the system, including setting up a data centre, installing network infrastructure, providing computers, and training judges and court staff.

Justice Ogunmoye explained that the NCMS would allow for electronic filing, case tracking, document storage, automated notifications, and performance reporting. He added that court rules are being reviewed to support e-filing, while additional digital services such as e-affidavit and e-probate platforms are also being introduced to further simplify court procedures.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Judicial Information Technology Policy Committee of Nigeria and Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zanna, encouraged judges to accept the transition despite initial challenges. He described digitalisation as unavoidable in today’s world and called for cooperation among judges, lawyers, court staff, the Nigerian Bar Association branches in Ekiti, and the State Internal Revenue Service to ensure the success of the initiative.
