The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Muftwang, into the party. The reception ceremony was held on Monday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, with party leaders and supporters in attendance.

According to the governor’s Political Adviser, Istifanus Nwansat, Muftwang’s decision to join the APC was largely influenced by the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He explained that internal conflicts in the PDP had weakened the party and made it difficult for politicians to pursue their ambitions on its platform.

Nwansat also stated that the governor’s defection was aimed at aligning Plateau State with the political direction and governance agenda of President Bola Tinubu. He noted that such alignment would help the state benefit more from federal policies and development programmes.

The move has sparked political reactions across Plateau State, as observers see it as a major shift in the state’s political landscape. Many believe the development could strengthen the APC in the region while further deepening the challenges facing the opposition PDP.
