Chippa United head coach, Vusumizi Vilakazi, has openly expressed disappointment over the departure of goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, describing the exit as a major setback for the South African club. Nwabali confirmed his decision to leave the Chilli Boys earlier this week, ending a four-year stay with the team.
The 29-year-old shot stopper was regarded as one of Chippa United’s most dependable players, and his sudden exit came as a surprise to many fans and officials. Nwabali’s strong performances, especially his impressive outing in Morocco, had elevated his status both at club level and beyond.
Speaking on the development, Coach Vilakazi admitted that losing Nwabali would affect the squad. He said the goalkeeper’s achievements and experience made him a valuable asset, adding that his departure was not part of the technical team’s plans for the season.
Vilakazi also clarified that the decision for Nwabali to leave was taken without his involvement. While wishing the goalkeeper well in his next chapter, the coach acknowledged that Chippa United will now have to adjust quickly and find solutions to fill the gap left by the Nigerian international.
