A suspected bandit attack in Karku community, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has left three people dead and a Catholic priest along with ten others abducted. The victims include Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Karku. Residents described the attackers as organised terrorists who overran the village in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari. The abductions occurred around 3:20 a.m. at the priest’s residence, according to a statement by the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet. Several other villagers were also taken during the raid.

The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan expressed deep sadness over the attack and appealed to Christians, priests, and people of goodwill to pray for the safe return of the abducted victims. The diocese emphasised the need for unity and continuous support in facing the ongoing insecurity challenges affecting parts of Kaduna State.

The statement also remembered those who lost their lives, placing them in prayers. The diocese urged the community to continue standing together in faith and resilience while security agencies work to restore peace in the area.
