The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has explained the reason behind the ongoing power outages affecting parts of Abuja, Nasarawa, Niger, and Kogi states. According to the electricity distributor, the blackout is due to reduced energy allocation from Nigeria’s National Grid, which has limited the amount of power available for distribution.
In a public notice shared on Friday, AEDC said the shortage is beyond its direct control and is linked to low power generation and transmission at the national level. The company acknowledged that customers across its coverage areas are experiencing unstable electricity supply, which has disrupted daily activities for households and businesses.
AEDC assured consumers that its technical teams are actively monitoring the situation as it unfolds. The company stated that engineers are on standby and ready to restore normal electricity supply immediately once power allocation from the grid improves. It also stressed its commitment to keeping customers informed and minimizing the impact of the outages.
Over the past few days, electricity supply in Abuja and surrounding areas has been highly irregular, leading to complaints from residents and business owners. AEDC appealed for patience, assuring customers that the blackout is temporary and that power supply will stabilize as soon as conditions on the National Grid return to normal.
