Abia Warriors Chairman, John Obuh, has made it clear that the club’s main goal this season is to secure a continental ticket. The Umuahia-based side is currently fifth on the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table with 38 points and remains within touching distance of the top positions.
Despite failing to win their last three league matches, Obuh believes the team is still in a strong position. He noted that the season has reached a crucial stage but insisted that there are still many points available for teams that remain focused and consistent.
The chairman expressed confidence that the club’s new signings will make a difference as the campaign progresses. With 14 matches left to play, Abia Warriors still have a chance to collect a maximum of 42 points, which Obuh believes is enough to push the team into the top two.
According to him, finishing among the top two teams is the only way to achieve their ambition of playing in the CAF Champions League next season. Obuh stressed that the players must stay determined and work harder than last season to turn their continental dream into reality.
