3 Indian Sisters Jump To Their Deaths After Parents Took Away Their Phones

A tragic incident has shaken India after three sisters were found dead at a residential apartment complex in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The victims, aged between 12 and 16, reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday following a family dispute linked to restrictions placed on their mobile phone use. The development has sparked nationwide concern over youth mental health and digital influence.

Police sources said the girls’ parents had recently limited their access to phones due to concerns about excessive screen time and unhealthy obsessions with online content. After the incident, authorities recovered a handwritten note from the family’s apartment, which investigators say is helping them understand the sisters’ state of mind prior to their deaths.

Initial findings suggest the siblings had developed an intense emotional attachment to foreign pop culture, online games, and digital communities during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Investigators are also examining claims that an online game may have played a role in influencing their actions, although officials say this aspect is still under review.

The incident has renewed calls for stronger awareness around child mental health, responsible digital use, and early intervention by families, schools, and communities. Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, while social workers and child welfare advocates are urging parents to seek open communication rather than punishment when addressing behavioural concerns.
