The Oyo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with murder, cult-related violence, and other criminal activities across different parts of the state. The arrests were made during separate operations, with security operatives also recovering weapons and other items believed to be linked to the crimes.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, one suspect was arrested in Tede town in the Oke Ogun area over an alleged murder. He said police acted on credible intelligence and recovered a locally made firearm during the operation. The suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue.
In another operation, police intervened in a cult-related disturbance in the Jobele area, where two suspects were arrested and a sharp weapon recovered. Further investigations led to the arrest of another suspect connected to the incident. The command said the suspects are cooperating with investigators and providing information to help track other members of the group.
The police also arrested additional suspects in Ilora and Ibadan over cases of serious assault and suspected theft. Three individuals were intercepted in a commercial vehicle carrying items believed to be stolen. The Oyo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and urged residents to continue providing timely information to help maintain peace and security
