Ogun govt seals filling station over environment violations

The Ogun State Government has sealed a filling station located at Moore Junction, Asero, for breaking environmental and public health rules. The action was carried out by the Ministry of Environment Task Force as part of efforts to enforce compliance with state laws.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Tolu Poviwhede, led the enforcement team during the operation on Wednesday. He said the station failed to meet basic environmental standards, including the absence of a toilet facility, which is mandatory for businesses that serve the public.

Poviwhede stressed that the government would not allow any business to operate in ways that endanger public health or the environment. He explained that filling stations interact with many people daily and must strictly follow all environmental and safety guidelines.

The filling station was sealed and served official notices until it fully complies with the required regulations. The state government also warned that similar enforcement actions would continue across Ogun to ensure all businesses obey environmental laws.
