Grammys: Kendrick Lamar surpasses Jay-Z as most-awarded rapper

Kendrick Lamar made history at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, winning all four rap categories and surpassing Jay-Z as the most-awarded rapper. His album ‘GNX’ won Best Rap Album, while his collaboration with Lefty Gunplay, ‘TV Off’, clinched Best Rap Song.

Lamar’s SZA-assisted hit, ‘Luther’, earned Best Melodic Rap Performance, and his work with Clipse, ‘Chains & Whips’, took home Best Rap Performance. The song ‘Luther’ also won the prestigious Record of the Year, solidifying Lamar’s dominance at this year’s Grammys.

With these wins, Kendrick Lamar now holds 27 Grammies, surpassing Jay-Z’s 25, making him the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history. Meanwhile, Olivia Dean won Best New Artist, continuing the trend of female artists claiming this award since 2017, edging out Leon Thomas, KATSEYE, Addison Rae, and Lola Young.

Other notable winners include Billie Eilish, who took Song of the Year for ‘Wildflower’, marking another record-setting moment at the ceremony. Lamar’s sweep highlights his continued influence and dominance in the rap and music industry.
