Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has publicly mocked Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over confusion about the party’s ideology. Bwala criticised Abdullahi for appearing evasive and confrontational in recent media interviews when asked to clearly define the ADC’s ideological stance.
According to Bwala, during one interview, Abdullahi said the party leadership was “still thinking about” its ideology. In a later appearance on Channels Television, Bwala claimed Abdullahi became flustered and combative when pressed on the same question. Bwala also linked the issue to Abdullahi’s book, The Loyalist, arguing that readers might struggle to find depth or direction if the author cannot explain the ideology of the party he represents.
Abdullahi responded sharply, saying the ADC’s ideology focuses on “putting the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians at the centre of governance.” He further criticised Bwala’s party, claiming it promotes “mass poverty, mindless looting, and banditry,” and urged Bwala to read before commenting.
Bwala fired back, questioning why Abdullahi did not provide this explanation on air, calling his social media clarification “wishful thinking” rather than a true ideology. The exchange highlights a growing public spat between government officials and opposition party representatives over political messaging and ideological clarity.
