The Ogun State Government has officially launched activities marking its 50th anniversary with the weekly commissioning of major road projects across the state. The Golden Jubilee celebration began last week with the opening of the Wole Soyinka Train Terminal and the Sagamu–Ayepe Road in Sagamu Local Government Area, followed by the Afon Palace Road in Imeko/Afon Local Government Area.
As part of the ongoing celebration, Governor Dapo Abiodun is set to commission the Abeokuta–Obalende Road and the Osinubi New Town Road in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area on Friday, January 30, 2026. The road projects aim to showcase key infrastructure achievements across the three senatorial districts as part of the 50-year milestone.
In addition to road commissioning, the state has lined up other events to commemorate the Golden Jubilee. An inter-faith thanksgiving service is scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arcade Ground, Office of the Governor, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. A state banquet will follow on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., while cultural displays and a carnival float are planned for Thursday, February 5, beginning at 9:00 a.m., from Isale-Igbein to Lalubu Road in Abeokuta.
The Ogun State Government added that further road commissioning exercises will continue the following week as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, reflecting the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and community engagement.
