Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has said that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, knows exactly what to do if he wants to avoid impeachment. Olayinka made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s programme, The Morning Brief, commenting on the ongoing political tension in the state.
He clarified that the impeachment initiative comes from the Rivers State House of Assembly and not from Wike. According to Olayinka, the governor has the political knowledge and capacity to navigate the situation effectively.
Olayinka warned that Governor Fubara should take the necessary steps to prevent the impeachment rather than publicly expressing distress. He emphasized that political navigation requires awareness and action rather than complaints or public lamentation.
He concluded that the impeachment process is driven by the House of Assembly, and it is up to the governor to respond strategically if he wants to maintain his position. The aide stressed that informed decisions and timely actions are key in handling such political challenges.
