Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command during a routine stop-and-search operation at Ibule Junction along Ilara-Mokin Road in Ifedore Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Umar, Muhammadu, and Sabiu, were found with a machete, a locally fabricated revolver, a live cartridge, and a Bajaj motorcycle.
The police spokesperson, Jimoh Abayomi, explained that the suspects could not give a reasonable explanation for possessing the dangerous items. They are currently cooperating with investigators, providing confessional statements to aid in tracking the remaining members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, praised the officers for their prompt and professional action. He emphasized the importance of intelligence-led stop-and-search operations in curbing criminal activities and preventing the circulation of illegal weapons in the state.
Lawal reassured residents that the police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Ondo State. Efforts to apprehend other members of the gang are ongoing as the command intensifies patrols and intelligence operations across the state.
