Gunmen have abducted two daughters and a relative of the Managing Director of the Plateau State Water Board, Engr. Apollos Samchi, during a late-night attack at his residence in Jos, Plateau State. The incident reportedly happened around 12:53 a.m. on Monday, January 26, in the Rantya area of Jos South Local Government Area, throwing the neighbourhood into fear and confusion.
Sources said the attackers forced their way into the house and took away three females. During the operation, the family’s security guard, Benard Makjwan, was shot in the stomach while trying to resist the attackers. He was rushed to Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Initial reports described the abducted victims as Samchi’s children. However, a source within the Plateau State Water Board later clarified that only two of the victims are his biological daughters. The third victim, identified as Nanlop Dalak Tanko, is a relative who also works with the Jos Water Service Corporation.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the Plateau State Police Command on the incident. Residents of the area have called for increased security, as concerns continue to grow over rising cases of abduction and violent crime in parts of the state.
