Body of missing man recovered from Obalende Underbridge Canal in Lagos

The body of a young man who had been missing for several days has been recovered from the Obalende Underbridge Canal on Lagos Island, bringing a sad end to the search for him.

Residents in the area said the man had been living under the bridge for a long time and was familiar to people around Obalende. Although his identity has not been officially confirmed, sources described him as someone who frequently stayed around the canal and its surroundings.

According to accounts from the area, the man was known to engage in drug use and was believed to have been under the influence before the incident. His disappearance reportedly went unnoticed at first, as he lived a largely solitary life beneath the bridge.

A search later led to the discovery of his body in the canal, after which officials of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as the KAI unit, were alerted. The body was evacuated and deposited at the Lagos General Hospital mortuary, while authorities said investigations and necessary documentation would be completed to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
