Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has officially flagged off the reconstruction and dualization of 55.09 kilometres of road networks in Gboko and nearby areas. The flag-off ceremony took place at Lubona Junction, marking a major step in the state’s drive to improve urban infrastructure and ease movement within Gboko metropolis.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the road project is valued at ₦62.135 billion and is expected to be completed within five months. Governor Alia thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the project and expressed confidence that residents would soon witness the commissioning of major road infrastructure across Benue State.
The governor described the Gboko road network as the second-longest in the state, adding that work is also ongoing on other key roads, including the 57-kilometre Awajir–Oju road in Benue South. He urged contractors to ensure timely delivery of quality work before political campaign activities begin, stressing that infrastructure development remains a top priority of his administration.
Stakeholders in Gboko welcomed the project with excitement, describing it as a historic facelift for the town. Community leaders, APC stakeholders, and traditional rulers praised Governor Alia for his commitment to development, while also appealing for more roads in surrounding areas to further boost economic activities and improve living standards.
