Abba Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has declared that no one, including his father, can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. The statement came as Abba formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, obtaining his membership card in Yola North Local Government Area. He cited Tinubu’s achievements in economic reforms, human development, and national growth as reasons for his defection.
“I want to make it very clear that nobody or any political party can stop President Bola Tinubu from returning to Aso Rock come 2027,” Abba said. He praised Tinubu for making appointments based on merit rather than religion or region, emphasizing the need for Nigerians to support the president to continue his work.
APC leaders in Adamawa welcomed the defection as a sign of the party’s increasing strength ahead of the 2027 elections. Alhaji Isa Bagalti, Zonal Vice Chairman for Adamawa Central, presented Abba with his membership card, while Alhaji Jamil Yusuf described potential challengers to Tinubu as “wishful thinkers” lacking the political weight to unseat the incumbent.
Abba Atiku’s defection follows his official reception into the APC on January 15, where he was welcomed by key party figures including Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, and Mustapha Salihu, APC National Vice Chairman (North East). The move is seen as further bolstering Tinubu’s chances for re-election.
