Shettima returns to Nigeria after trips to Guinea, Davos

Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after a week-long diplomatic and economic mission to Guinea-Conakry and Switzerland. He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Saturday, according to a statement issued by his media aide, Stanley Nwokocha.

During the trip, Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya. The visit, according to the Vice President, reflected Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening regional unity and cooperation across West Africa under the current administration.

After Guinea, the Vice President proceeded to Switzerland, where he led Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos. He said Nigeria’s participation at the global event aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at repositioning the country’s economy and attracting long-term investments.

One of the major highlights of the Davos engagement was the launch of Nigeria House, the country’s first sovereign pavilion at the Davos Promenade. The platform was created to showcase investment opportunities in solid minerals, agriculture, and the digital economy. Shettima also joined former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Finance Minister Wale Edun to promote the Accra Reset Initiative, which focuses on Africa’s industrial growth driven by local capital and value chains.
