Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to retain head coach Eric Chelle, praising his impact on the national team. Onyeka said the coach has brought renewed belief and structure to the Super Eagles, urging the football authorities not to let him leave at this critical stage.
Speaking after Nigeria’s recent performances, the Brentford star noted that Chelle has helped the players rediscover confidence and unity. According to Onyeka, the coach understands the team’s strengths and has created a positive environment that allows players to express themselves on the pitch. He stressed that continuity is important if the team wants to build on recent progress.
Onyeka also highlighted Chelle’s tactical input and man-management skills, saying the coach has earned the respect of the squad. He explained that the players are fully buying into Chelle’s ideas and believe stability on the bench will help the Super Eagles compete better in major tournaments and qualifiers.
The midfielder concluded by calling on the NFF to listen to the players’ voices and prioritise long-term development over frequent changes. He warned that allowing Chelle to go now could disrupt the team’s momentum, insisting that keeping the coach would benefit Nigerian football going forward.
