Operatives of the Osun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, have arrested a suspected armed robber, Chinedu Eze, following a foiled robbery on the Ilesa–Ibadan Expressway. The arrest came after a motorist, Maxwell Phillips from Benue State, alerted Amotekun patrols in the early hours of Wednesday about suspicious activities by armed men along the highway.
Upon receiving the distress alert, the patrol team quickly mobilised to the scene and encountered the suspects attempting to stop vehicles. The robbers fled into nearby bushes upon seeing the Amotekun personnel, but 32-year-old Chinedu Eze, from Ebonyi State, was apprehended during the pursuit.
Items recovered from Eze included a cutlass, a torchlight, and a wooden object made to resemble an AK-47 rifle, allegedly intended to intimidate motorists during the attempted robbery. During preliminary questioning, the suspect admitted his involvement and revealed that his accomplices escaped into the bush.
Amotekun authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ensure road safety along the Ilesa–Ibadan Expressway. The operation highlights the effectiveness of routine patrols and quick response to distress calls.
